- The United States turned numerology into a business: the first destiny-number books were sold by mail order in the 1920s.
- The angel number 11:11 is an internet fashion from the 2000s; classical numerology does not include it.
- The word 'numerology' does not appear in English until 1907; before that people spoke of 'the science of numbers' or 'name vibration'.
- The 'personality number' is calculated only from the consonants of the name and the 'soul urge' only from the vowels.
